A Summer Exhibition at Everyday Sunshine is giving a platform to new and established talented local artists.
Around 50 artists are exhibiting their work at the shop and café on Nevill Road including, according to shop co-founder Abi Meats: “highly collectable” pieces and “ones to watch.”
Abi said: “The level of art on display here is amazing – there are some seriously good people making and painting in the local area. We have beautiful oil paintings of places around Church Walk, which really capture the area. Another artist has created graphic maps of just nature in the area.
“I didn’t have a clue there was so much talent here. For many of the artists exhibiting, this is the first time they’ve ever shown or sold their work – a huge milestone and a really big deal. We’ve had such a lovely time bringing this exhibition together and getting to know our incredible local community of artists and makers.”
Among the artists whose work is on display are Mariann Hanbury who had never exhibited before this. Others include established painter Michael Ashcroft whose highly collectible work has featured on the Saatchi Gallery platform and Beth Quinn (the one to watch!) whose oil paintings are photo-realistic. Abi’s son Herbie, 18, is also displaying his work for the first time.
Abi added: “The exhibition came about because people were coming in and telling us they make and paint and I felt we needed to give them somewhere to exhibit. I hope this will become an annual thing.”
The exhibition runs Monday to Sunday until 4pm until July 19th with pieces ranging in price from £60 to £3,500.
