Bag a bargain in Stokey’s online auction

From football tickets to delicious meals in local restaurants, businesses in Stokey have pulled out all the stops with their online auction.

The See you in Stokey Fabulous FUNDraiser is raising money for community events, which bring people together and increase footfall.

Among the prizes donated are a massage at Shine, Arsenal tickets, theatre tickets at Tower, a karaoke party at Mascara Bar, a barbecue course at Meat N16 and an engraved Japanese knife from Kitchen Provisions.

Other prizes up for grabs include meals at The Good Egg, Aun, The Parlour and Acoustic and goodies from Sophie MacBain, The Ark, Beaucatcher, Prep, Gallo Nero, Metal Crumble and more.  The Local Buyers Club has donated £100 to spend at any Stoke Newington business in the club.

The auction coincides with a fundraising gala at The Old Church on Friday June 21st, where comedian Rob Deering and legendary poet Tim Wells will be performing.   There’ll also be soul and groove music, food from The Good Egg, Yum Yum, La Rosetta and Schnitzel Forever.

Heidi Early, Chair of Stoke Newington Business Association, is helping to organize the event. She said: “Local businesses have been so generous in donating prizes, food and more for this fabulous fundraiser.  We’re on a mission to make sure Stokey’s wonderful community events keep happening - funds raised will enable us to run arts-based events in the area.

“We’d urge the community to join us for what promises to be a really magical community night with amazing entertainment and delicious food and to bid for some wonderful prizes.”

Rob Deering is among the UK’s most sought-after headliners and is a regular at Edinburgh Fringe, Green Man and Lattitude. He has been living in Stoke Newington with his wife and family for the past 25 years.

Tim Wells was described by The Guardian as “a poet of wit and brilliance” and is a regular on the London poetry scene.

Other prizes include vouchers for Evergreen and Outrageous and Plantastic, a bike maintenance class at London Bike Studio, a safe from GK Locksmith, a herbal session with Hackney Outdoors, a shopping session with bubbly at Ivory and a selection box from the Luminary Bakery.
