The London Design Festival is coming to Stoke Newington and Dalston this September and it’s a wonderful opportunity to discover local creatives.

It’s the third year of the Dalston to Stokey Design District – coordinated by Abi Meats of Everyday Sunshine and Karen Sims of Know & Love, the local programme is designed to shine a light on local talent and increase footfall in the area.

Everyday Sunshine on Barbauld Road will be launching their new book ‘Create! – How to Unleash your Creative Superpower’ and running a series of exercises for children interested in careers in the creative industries.

Abi said: “My hope is that people come along to the Design Festival and discover just how many brilliant creative industries we have here.  There are incredible architect studios, product designers, screen-printers and so many design agencies in Stoke Newington and Dalston.

“There’s a real breadth of creative industries on our doorstep and that needs celebrating!  AI is changing things, and we need to learn to harness it and move forward.  Learning how we work with AI will help us future proof our kids.”

Womenswear brand L.F. Markey will be celebrating the work of artist Sabine Finkenauer and her exploration of geometry, the ornamental & joyful experimentation with an exhibition ‘The Shape of Play.’

Mad Atelier in Clapton will be celebrating Slow Living – championing sustainable materials and practices and timeless made-to-order pieces.   Workshops there will include flower arranging, life and still nature drawing and poetry reading.

On Tuesday September 16th JPA Design will be hosting Afterglow Frequencies, an immersive wellness experience featuring biodynamic lighting that synchronises with the body’s natural circadian rhythm, alongside guided sound baths and immersive soundscapes.

The London Design Festival takes place from September 13th till the 21st.

On Sunday 21st, Everyday Sunshine will be wrapping up the event with Sunday Sessions – an evening of live music by artists Mally Harpaz, Renyvee and the Band and Moya Silk.
