Stokey’s Winter Fest is back and it’s better than ever with a Santa’s Grotto, a jigsaw trail, live music and crafts.
Organised by Stoke Newington Business Association, the event takes place on Saturday November 29th from 10am till 4pm.
Heidi Early, Chair of Stoke Newington Business Association, said: “We’re pulling out all the stops to make this community event sparkle. Little visitors to the grotto at Location Location can meet Santa and take home a special gift and big visitors can enjoy a glass of mulled wine there!
“Once again local schoolchildren and Output Arts are decorating the Giving Tree outside the Fire Station in support of Hackney Foodbank, and we’d urge people to come along and meet the food bank team and bring along donations of non-perishable food. The fire engine will be out between 1pm and 4pm for kids to enjoy and there’ll be live music from the ukulele band Phoenix.”
Traders have designed a special jigsaw and created a festive trail – visit every business on the trail to collect a piece and send a photo of you with the completed jigsaw to be entered into a prize draw for a fabulous hamper.
Panto stars from Tower Theatre’s Rapunzel will be walking the route from the High St to Church St and popping by the grotto.
Heidi added: “Local businesses have put so much love into organising this event. It means so much to be bringing the community together – there will be treats, singing and crafts.”
The Growing Communities Farmers’ Market is offering free craft workshops and a performance by The Morris Folk Choir at 11am.

The fun continues on Sunday November 30th when Everyday Sunshine on Nevill Road hosts its annual Xmas Xtravaganza (3pm-6pm). Among the bands performing are Martians Don’t Scare Me, Pearl and Zak, Kelli Blanchett and Hornsey Automatic. Guests are encouraged to bring a mug and enjoy mulled wine. They’re also asked to bring donations for the food bank.
